Thinking of Ladakh the first image that emanates is of its luminously pristine lakes
bordered by the majestic Himalayas but that is just the tip of the ice berg as Ladakh
has other jewels under its crown like Thiksey Monastery, Nubra Valley, Sham valley,
Alchi monastery, Changla pass, Panamik village famous for its hot water springs and
not to forget Khardung la – one of the world’s highest motorable roads. Advancing
across the northern region of the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India with Indus River
as its backbone, Ladakh has two main townshipsof Leh and Kargil and is on the top of
every traveler’s bucket list. In “Odyssey to Ladakh”gushing streams and narrow
footpaths become your travel companion, while you fall head over heels in the
mesmerizin g beauty.

DAY 1) MANALI TO
The odyssey starts at Manali from where we start our drive JISPA
towards Jispa. After crossing the protected glacier of Rohtang
Pass we enter the Lahaul district, witness the change in
landscape, flora and fauna as we drive alongside the Bhaga
river and halt at Jispa. After moving in our tents we enjoy a
night under stars with a sumptuous meal followed by a sweet
cup of tea near bonfire and don’t worry your body
acclimatization has
already started.

DAY 2) JISPA TO LEH
After a sumptuous breakfast we drive towards the Jammu & Kashmir
Border while crossing Sarchu & Pang; Pang plateau is the home of Changa
nomads which supports rare wild life species.
After spending some good time sightseeing in this area we take the
Manali-Leh road to move towards Leh, while crossing Taglang-la (alt:
17,585ft). Leh with its stupas and crumbling mud-brick houses is travel
friendly yet enchanting place with the lost world of by gone era being
preserved in its Tibetan-style
palace and fort. We call it a night by checking into our hotel rooms where
you get a chance to catch up with some good night sleep.

DAY 3) REST & LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING
Following breakfast, we drive to the east of Leh on the
SrinagarLeh highway which will take you to the Sangam. Quite literally
Sangam is the assemblage of 2 sinuous rivers, the Indus and the Zanskar.
On the way back we shall visit the Magnetic hill, known as the hill that
defies gravity. We make one last stop at the 12th century
Gurudwara-Pather Sahib and after that, we head back to our hotel. The
evening will be left free at your disposal to wander about the local
markets, purchase handicrafts or relics to add to your collection of
memories.

DAY 4) LEH TO NUBRA VIA KHARDUNG LA
Today is a peaceful and picturesque drive of about 135 km from Leh
through Khardung La (18,379 ft) clearly one of the world’s highest
accessible boulevard. We aim to reach Diskit (headquarter of Nubra
valley) by afternoon, after that shall check into our camp and relish a
searing afternoon meal. As the sun sets in we make our way to visit
Diskit Monastery and marvel at the agonizing beauty of Sand dunes in
Hunder Village.
Captivated in this experience, it will soon be time to return to the
camp but before that we would take a ride of the Double Humped
bacterian Camels.

DAY 5) DISKIT TO PANGONG TSO
Once again we begin the day post a sumptuous breakfast.
Enroute to Pangong Tso you would get the opportunity to
capture some fine snaps of the Diskir Monastery, while you
Savoir the hot water Sulphur springs at Panamik village an
experience that will soothe your soul. Later we drive through
Shyok to reach Pangong Tso. We arrive at the hotel/camp and
check-in, which will be followed by the afternoon siesta. The
evening will be left free for you to linger around at your
convenience.

DAY 6) PANGONG TSO TO LEH
With your heart not wanting to leave this place, it’s
unfortunately time to bid adieu to Pangong Tso. As in
order to reach somewhere you have to leave some place
behind. We drive onto Leh today, where the evening will
be left free at your disposal to explore
yourself in this lost world.

DAY 7) LEH TO SARCHU
After a heavy breakfast, we travel to Sarchu by
crossing the interstate border between Jammu &
Kashmir to enter Himachal via crossing
Taglang-la while inhaling the picturesque views
on offer in the of Pang plateau.

DAY 8) SARCHU TO MANALI
The odyssey comes a full circle today as we start from
Sarchu after a heavy breakfast towards Manali crossing
the Lahaul District via Rohtang Pass. This is the time
when nostalgia kicks in and you realize that your new
found family would go their separate ways as the ride
ends, but don’t you worry as the Himalayas would always
welcome you with open arms. Overnight stay in Manali.

DAY 9) CIAO!
