Uttarakhand is home to countless Hindu temples, earning it the revered title of “Devbhoomi”—the Land of the Gods. Among the many spiritual journeys one can undertake here, the Char Dham Yatra holds a place of highest significance.

This sacred pilgrimage leads devotees to four holy shrines nestled in the Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. In Hindi, “char” means four, and “dham” refers to religious destinations, symbolizing the four sacred abodes of divine energy in the region.

Access to these sacred shrines opens only during certain months—mainly in summer (April/May) and autumn (October/November)—when the weather is clear and roads remain open.

Pilgrims usually follow a clockwise route, starting from Yamunotri, moving to Gangotri, then Kedarnath, and finishing at Badrinath. Most travelers choose to go by road, but helicopter services offer a faster and more convenient alternative.

Day 1: pickup from Dehradun airport to Janki Chatti (200 km / 7-8 hrs)

  • Drive via Dehradun and Mussoorie.
  • En route visit Kempty Falls.
  • Overnight stay in Janki chatti /Barkot

Day 2: Janki Chatti – Yamunotri – Janki Chatti / Barkot(36 km drive + 6 km trek per side)

  • Drive to Janki Chatti and start the trek to Yamunotri.
  • Visit the Yamunotri Temple and Surya Kund.
  • Trek back and return to Janki Chatti /Barkot.

Day 3: Barkot – Uttarkashi (100 km / 4-5 hrs)

  • Drive to Uttarkashi, a serene town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. 
  • Visit Vishwanath Temple
  • Overnight stay in Uttarkash

Day 4: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 km per side)

  • Drive to Gangotri, en route visit picturesque Harsil Valley.
  • Take a dip in the sacred Bhagirathi River at Gangotri.
  • Visit Gangotri Temple and return to Uttarkashi for the night.

Day 5: Uttarkashi – Guptkashi (220 km / 8-9 hrs)

  • Reach Guptkashi and
  • Overnight stay in Guptkashi.

Day 6: Guptkashi – Kedarnath (30 km drive + 16 km trek)

  • Drive to Sonprayag, then take a local vehicle to Gaurikund.
  • Begin the trek to Kedarnath or opt. for helicopter services.
  • Visit Kedarnath Temple and attend the evening aarti.
  • Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Day 7: Kedarnath – Guptkashi (16 km trek + 30 km drive)

  • Trek back to Gaurikund and return to Guptkashi.
  • Relax and enjoy the serene views.

Day 8: Guptkashi – Badrinath (200 km / 8-9 hrs)

  • Drive to Badrinath via Joshimath.
  • Attend evening aarti at Badrinath Temple.
  • Overnight stay in Badrinath.

Day 9: Badrinath – Rudraprayag ,Shrinagar (160 km / 8-9 hrs)

  • Visit Badrinath Temple for early morning darshan.
  • Explore Mana Village (last village near the Indo-China border). And Dhari Devi temple
  • Drive to Rudraprayag /Shrinagar for an overnight stay.

Day10- From Rudraprayag/Shrinagar to Haridwar (165kms/5-6hr)

Distance:- 165 Kms and Time:- 5-6 hrs. Leave Rishikesh for Haridwar in the morning after breakfast. Rishikesh, often known as "place of sages, " is a holy city on the banks of the Ganga that is hemmed in on three sides by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas. Arrival at Hotel. Later, check out the sights and temples of Rishikesh, including Laxman Jhulla and Ram Jhulla. Staying in Haridwar for the night.
