Tucked away in the heart of Uttarakhand, the Dhakuri Trek (2,800m) is an offbeat adventure offering a tranquil escape into the mountains. Once a popular stopover in the ‘90s for trekkers heading from Loharkhet, it has since remained a peaceful gem for those seeking a deeper connection with nature.
Scenic and Rewarding Trek
The journey to Dhakuri is both moderate and rewarding. The trail meanders through lush forests, with stunning Himalayan vistas gradually revealing themselves as you climb. For those seeking an elevated experience, the trek extends to the Chiltha Mata Temple Top (3,300m). From here, you’ll be treated to breathtaking 360-degree views: verdant hills and quaint villages on one side, and snow-covered peaks spanning across India and Nepal on the other.
Solitude and Peacefulness
What truly sets Dhakuri apart is the peace and solitude it offers. Unlike the more crowded treks such as Kedarkantha, Brahmatal, or Triund, this route remains untouched by mass tourism. It’s the perfect retreat for nature lovers and solitude seekers.
A Trek for All Seasons
The trek covers around 20 km over 2-3 days, making it ideal for those with basic fitness levels. Whether you are walking through blooming rhododendron forests in spring, trekking over snow-draped paths in winter, or gazing at a sea of clouds during the monsoon, every season offers a unique charm.
A Comfortable Rest
After a day’s hike, you’ll find comfort in a cozy guesthouse at Dhakuri. It’s the perfect place to relax, recharge, and take in the views without any rush. If you’re looking for an offbeat Himalayan adventure immersed in tranquility and natural beauty, Dhakuri awaits.
