Kafni Glacier Trek – A Hidden Gem for Experienced Trekkers
The Kafni Glacier Trek, nestled in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, offers a breathtaking yet moderately challenging adventure, reaching a maximum altitude of 3,860 meters. The trek begins from Khati Village, following the same scenic trail as the Pindari Glacier Trek up to Dwali, where the path branches off toward Kafni.
From Dwali onwards, the route becomes more rugged, with sections affected by past monsoon landslides, adding a layer of challenge that makes this trek ideal for seasoned trekkers or those ready to push their limits. As you approach Khatiya, the landscape shifts dramatically—dense forests give way to wide alpine meadows, setting the stage for the final stretch to Zero Point, where the majestic Kafni Glacier awaits.
This glacier feeds the Kafni River, which joins the Pindar River at Dwali. While this trek is not recommended for beginners, it promises a deeply rewarding experience for those with prior high-altitude trekking experience, offering solitude, raw beauty, and a sense of true Himalayan adventure.
