About this tour
The Nanda Devi East Advance Base Camp Trek is a demanding adventure deep in the Kumaon Himalayas, climbing to an altitude of 15,800 feet. Serving as the advance base for mountaineering expeditions to Nanda Devi — India’s second-highest peak — this trek is not recommended for beginners and requires strong endurance and resilience.
The journey starts from Munsiyari, with a motorable route leading up to Rilkot. From there, the trail winds through ancient Johar villages, rugged landscapes, and expansive Himalayan meadows, offering awe-inspiring views of towering snow-capped peaks. As you approach the Advance Base Camp, you’ll navigate challenging glacial moraines before setting up camp beneath the shadows of the great mountains.
This location also serves as a vital connection for trekkers descending from Traill’s Pass, making it an important link in the network of high-altitude routes across the region.
