About this tour

Pankhu Top (Pakhwa Bugyal): A Hidden Himalayan Gem

Perched at an altitude of 3,260 meters, Pankhu Top—also known as Pakhwa Bugyal—is a breathtaking meadow ridge nestled in the Kumaon Himalayas. It lies between two picturesque valleys: Pindar Valley (Khati Village – 2,210 meters) and Saryu Valley (Jhuni Village – 2,150 meters).

This offbeat trek is an ideal retreat into the untouched Himalayan wilderness. As you ascend, you’re rewarded with sweeping views of the Sunderdhunga Valley Range and its iconic snow-capped peaks, including Maiktoli (6,803 meters), Devtoli (6,788 meters), and Sunderdhunga Khal (5,300 meters).

Starting from Jhuni Village, the trail winds through dense oak and rhododendron forests, serene alpine meadows, and tranquil high-altitude landscapes. Though moderate in difficulty, the trek offers immense rewards for nature lovers and solitude seekers.

For the best experience, plan your adventure in spring (March to May), when rhododendrons paint the trail in vibrant reds and pinks. Alternatively, winter (December to February) transforms the landscape into a snowy wonderland, offering a peaceful and magical trekking experience.
